Maeve’s Story

Maeve is a grey female Wolfdog, named after the old Irish word meaning “she who rules.” For her first 2 years of life, Maeve lived with a loving family and experienced an active and varied lifestyle alongside her adoptive “brother,” another wolfdog named Faelen.

She traveled through many western places, swam in the Pacific Ocean, and participated in educational programs in California. Maeve has always been a very outgoing, confident, and adventurous Wolfdog. She loves exploring new places and meeting people. Because Maeve was raised alongside Faelen, she is always most confident when in his company. Her bold nature is a counterpoint to his more cautious instincts, and she has significantly helped to bring him out of his shell.

In June 2023, Maeve came to Mission: Wolf alongside Faelen and her devoted human caretaker, our staff member Moira. Maeve now lives with Faelen in an enclosure adjacent to the 20-acre playpen. Both are adjusting gracefully to the refuge, and love going on walks and exploring the playpen together- Maeve is always on the lookout for rabbits to chase!

Maeve is enthusiastic about meeting new people and adores daily attention from Moira and the other staff here at Mission: Wolf. Maeve is one of our most intense ambassador wolfdogs, and greets visitors to the sanctuary with incredible amounts of love and excitement.

We are excited to see Maeve continue to grow and enjoy life at the refuge with her family.
