Wylder’s Story
Wylder is one of the four newest residents of Mission: Wolf. This little wolfdog pup was named for her independent spirit and wild attitude. While Wylder likely has the most dog genetics in her out of all 4 of the puppies, her behaviors are so far very wolfy!
Wylder was abandoned and running loose on the streets of a small California town, scavenging for food and avoiding humans as best she could. Eventually, Wylder was caught by dedicated rescuers in a live trap. She was the last of the 4 puppies caught and was quickly reunited with the other 3 puppies that were being nursed back to health by their loving foster. After a couple of weeks of good food and friendly humans around her, she began to come out of her shell and started happily playing with toys and the other puppies.
Nothing is known about Wylder’s background, but she was estimated to be about 5 months old when rescued. Wylder’s unique looks match her singular personality- at first Wylder appears quite wild indeed and is shy and wary of new humans. However, once she is comfortable around someone, her incredibly spunky, playful, and self-assured nature shines through. She is often seen at the very center of the puppy pack, and her favorite move is to grab the paws of her “siblings” to instigate play.
As we get to know her better, we see that Wylder’s name is very fitting; her tiny body holds the spirit of a truly wild little creature and watching her begin to thrive and grow into herself is wonderful. As she grows stronger, we are excited to see her enjoy more and more room to roam and play throughout the sanctuary and playpens along with her beloved pack-mates.
